This piece was in poor shape with an awful paint finish that had seen better days. It was stripped, (at least four layers of paint), and refinished with a flat black paint, then finished with bee's wax to give a beautiful luster. I loved how the back of the upper piece came out when stripping it, so it was left to highlight the age of the piece.
When purchased, I was told this piece is from either Pennsylvania or Ohio, dating somewhere around late 1840's to 1870's which is evident with all of the details such as the hand carved and planed wood working, and dovetail joints.
It did have two glass doors for the upper cabinet, but I enjoyed the look more without them. (they are available, but unfinished).
It is two pieces and both pieces together measure 38" wide, & 19' deep, & 79" tall
